Overview
Wolf Road can be considered to many as Downtown for the Capital Region. With many shopping plazas and one of the area's numerous shopping malls, Wolf Road is a prime commercial hub and one of the most busiest highways in the area.

Before 1970, Wolf Road was merely a two lane highway providing access to local residence and farmland. Today, Wolf Road has transformed to a four lane highway from Central Avenue, Route 5, to Albany Shaker Road. A portion of Wolf Road, north of Albany Shaker Road, remains a two lane highway and is maintained by the Albany County Public Works Department.

In 2001, New York State Department of Transportation rehabalitated Wolf Road.
New traffic sights and pedestrian sidewalks were installed, giving a more pleasant ride down the Capital Region's downtown.
